On the past August 14th, the French Government awarded Dominican artist Ramón Oviedo with the “Arts and Letters Order” thus becoming the first Dominican artist to receive such a high distinction.
Besides participating in different Latin American biennials, master Ramón Oviedo (1927) has been the recipient of a number of great acknowledgements during his artistic career. The Congress of the Dominican Republic gave him the title of “Illustrious Master of Dominican Painting”. And this year he was honored at the Dominican city of San Cristóbal by the Association of Painters from San Cristóbal where more than 20 artists painted his face. |
